European Union Standards on Organic Agriculture and the procedures for organic production are some of the issues discussed today in Zadrima (Shkodra) during an info session on Albania’s EU integration process, and in particular the impact it will have in organic agriculture sector. Farmers were introduced to the EU approach to Organic Farming and to the rules of organic production, certification, and Common Agriculture Policy for organic farming in the EU. Farmers raised their problems in relation to the expectations and challenges encountered in the process of transitioning their products from conventional to organic, according to the standards provided by EU legislation. These info sessions are organized in the framework the project, “Improving knowledge of organic agriculture farmers related to European Union” , funded by the grant scheme provided under IPA II European Union Integration Facility 2014 “Support for civil society organizations to implement capacity building actions and raise dialogue and awareness for the integration process” funded by the European Union in Albania CFCU Albania and implemented by the Institute for Sustainable Policies in partnership with the Institute for the Promotion of Social and Economic Development.
